Yogas believe that through meditation a serpent that lives in the base of
the spine crawls upwards to the head when bright colours and ecstasy are experienced.
Does
not the coils of a serpents body, as well as the coiled tree root in the ninth
of the Ox Herding Pictures, suggest the double helix structure of the DNA
molecule? Could we be aware, on some intuitive level, of our own DNA? When
Dr James Watson discovered DNA it was as the result of a flash of intuition.
Could DNA be the key to the whole thing?
This
is certainly the view of Dr
Timothy Leary who's theory of Neurological
Circuits holds that DNA awareness is the jumping off point to cosmic consciousness.
