Crowley
defined magic, or magick as he called it, as 'the change of consciousness
through act of will'. So, the rituals and occult practices followed by Crowley's
magickal societies, ie the Ordo Templi Orientis and Argentum Astrum, achieved
the same end result, ego or 'self' loss, as taking a tab of LSD. (Incidentally,
the author does not, repeat not, advocate the use of hallucinogenic drugs.)
